Its a 3 form battle and your lives won't reset in between. Both 2nd and 3rd form got some pretty damaging attacks. 3rd form has a pretty nice trick to manipulate his AI though. The 3rd form has a bunch of attacks that he will only use if his target is at a certain distance away from him and THOSE are the attacks that will kick your ass. Thankfully, I noticed that if you stay up close to him at all times he will mostly use 2 simple punch attacks, which if you guard them and keep using Gale to create barriers will reduce the damage so much that you won't need to worry about healing as much, making it much easier.
