A playthrough of Sierra's 1995 PC game, The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery. The Beast Within was a phenomenal followup to the 1993 classic Sins of the Fathers. Though FMV games in the mid 90s quickly came to be loathed by gamers, Gabriel Knight 2 blew everyone away with its adult plot line (thematic and subtle, not insanely gory, nor overloaded with boobs and swears), incredible writing, one of the best musical scores ever composed for a game (the opera scene!), and a cast of actors that capably perform their roles. I personally much prefer this Gabriel over Tim Curry's from the first game, though Grace is a bit hysterical and hormonal in a lot of scenes. Many of the backdrops in this game, unlike Phantasmagoria, were done with real sets making the scenes look less fake and shiny (as was the tendency with early CGI), and the video quality has seen a massive boost due to better compression, even though this game only (!) shipped on six discs.
