This is the original pre-release demo from April 1997, not that there ever had been another one. It takes place in Scrapheap, a modified and greatly reduced Junktown. This town is controlled by two gangs, the Crypts and the Fools. You can join either or fight both, but be warned, combat can be tough and stimpaks are scarce. Only weapons are the 10mm SMG and the minigun, but you will hardly be able to use the latter, since your Big Arms skill is too low. There are some differences in the engine (most notable, combat only starts when you target someone, which can make attacking moving targets rather difficult) and some items have different graphics. Being a demo, there are some deliberate restrictions as well. You can only play Max Stone, but it is a far more playable Max Stone than the one in the final version. For true Fallout fans, playing the demo is a must.
