Baldur's Gate 2 : Shadows of Amn is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Role Playing Game Baldur's Gate (1998), game which has the protagonist set as a Spawn of Bhaal, son or daughter of the lord of murder. The protagonist investigates the iron crisis on the Sword Coast, only to, much later, find out that there is a deeper plot below the iron shortage : Sarevok, another spawn of Bhaal and therefore the protagonist's brother, is involved in a scheme to kill all the grand dukes of Baldur's Gate, take all the power for himself and wage war on Amn, a region bordering to the south. The protagonist however stops the mad brother's ambition by killing him in one final battle deep below the city of Baldur's Gate, in a temple dedicated to the lord of murder himself. Baldur's Gate 2 is set immediately after that, as the player is ambushed during a night and kidnapped under unknown circumstances.
