It was released in 2003 and feature tactical turn-based combat, quirky characters, hilariously over-acting voice actors and lots of "Nippon Ichi style" humour. We follow Laharl, a demon and the son of the (late) Overlord of the Netherworld, in his struggle to gain control over his heritage after his old man chokes to death on a Black Pretzel. During the game, he gains the support of several characters, demons, humans and even angels. The mechanics of the game are hugely intricate, with item levels, item specialists, weapon mastery, stat-aptitude and lots and lots of other weird words.
