For those of you who (like myself) are a bit too young to have been involved in serious CRPG gaming in the late 1980s, I should perhaps point out that "Pool of Radiance" was a hugely influential AD&D computer role playing game, featuring an innovative turn-based combat system. PoR was released on several platforms, including the Commodore 64, PC and NES. The game engine was used in several later titles, which are known collectively as the "Gold Box" games.
